Reflection #4

This week i finished my interview and sent it off to martina. about three days later i got my answers back from her. She answered every question very well, and put effort into everything i asked. Also i worked more on my essay I'm not quite finished yet. i still haven't shot my skills video but i hope to finish soon.

Interview with Martina

Hi Martina, this is Alex Kubeska from Kayla's softball team. For my 8th grade project i am doing softball recrutment. Since you have gone through the recruitment process l i was wondering if you could answer a few questions about the it.

1. What do you think recruiters look for the most in an application?
I think the thing college coaches look for the most in application is a dedication to grades and a well rounded lifestyle

2. What do you think is the most important thing in an application?

The most important thing in the application by far is being able to show that apart from having a dedication to softball, you have a dedication to your academics and that you are not selfish with your time and talents. You can show this by having lots of community service, imparticularly coaching because it shows that you have a mind for the game

3.How long do you think recruiters look at an application?
Recruiters do not look at an application long, so it is important that you make all of your information organized and easily accessible so that they dont have to search for the good parts.

4. What exactly does an application consist of?
An application consists of all information you feel they need to know about you in list form. It usually includes things like, awards, playing experience, GPA, SAT scores, community service, and work experience. It is basically your opportunity to show the coaches and schools all the great things you have done or have achieved

5. What was the hardest part of this process?
The hardest part of this process is typically filling out a complete application, and knowing how to sell all of your good qualities without seeming overconfident or cocky. The trick is to be confident but also humble and sincere

6. What was the easiest part?
THe easiest part for me was writing the essays because i enjoy writing and it was a chance for me to give voice to my application. Essays are very important because they give whoever is reading the application a piece of your voice and personality to remember you by. It's important to make a good impression.

7. How many schools did you apply to?
I applied to 15 schools, but was contacted by way more than that. Usually by mail. Most people only apply to 3 or 4 schools but i knew i wanted to study out of state which broadened by applicaction process

8. How many Schools responded, and showed interest?
I was accepted to 12 of the 15 schools, and was in constant contact with all of them. I also did many interviews, both over the phone and in person.

9. How do schools show interest in you, do they call, email?
WHen colleges contacted me it was usually first by information in an email or by a letter addressed to my house. After i chose the ones i would apply to, i applied and then was interviewed by many of the school. The final step of the recruitment process was actually making a visit to the school before making my final decision

10. What's the most important thing to remember when meeting a recruiter?

THe most important thing to remember when meeting a recruiter is to be honest, humble, and personable. You want to make a lasting good impression. Also, make sure you are always prepared to be interviewed, you never know when a recruiter could ask questions about your life or information and you dont want to seem unprepared.

Reflection #2.

This week i haven't done very much, but i wrote up a couple more questions and i am almost ready to send them to martina. Also i am getting ready to shoot my video, but i need to find a camera to use.
Reflection #1.

this week i wrote up about half my questions for my interview. i figured out who i am going to interview, Martina G. Martina is the right person to ask these questions because she just went through this process, and can give me some insight onto the recruitment process.
